Welcome to the 80th District Online Office!

It is an honor representing you in the State Assembly.  The 2009-10 legislative session is shaping up to be one of the most challenging times in our state’s recent history.

Due to the economy, families and small businesses across our area are faced with smaller budgets and tough decisions.  I feel strongly that government should not be exempt from these tough economic times and must tighten its belt as well.  As a state, we need to reduce the tax burden and create a more favorable business and job creation climate.

Earlier this year I worked to defeat many harmful provisions in Governor Doyle's state budget bill.  These included a 6% increase in state spending, over $2 billion in tax increases, a $1.5 billion property tax increase, and a $2 billion deficit for next budget cycle.  Unfortunately, these harmful fiscal policies remained in the budget, so I voted NO.

Now, for the remainder of the legislative session, my top focus is aimed at getting Wisconsin’s economy back on track.  I am also working with my colleagues on legislation designed to improve our state's accounting and budgeting practices, reform K-12 education and lower health care costs.

The 80th District online office is designed to provide you with useful information about your state government.  It is my goal to be as accessible as possible, and it is my hope this website will help aid that goal.  This website is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  Explore the site easily via the tabs located at the top of the page.

Visit the "Contact Brett" tab to obtain my contact information and send me a message.  Whether you have a question regarding a state agency, an idea to make Wisconsin better, or just want to let your opinion known, my door is always open.

I plan to update this website regularly, so check back often!

Sincerely,
